Trolling about the web this afternoon, I came across an article on BBC News about Shared Community Gardens- In Detroit!
I mentioned something about this idea to Chris a few months ago. I’d read someone’s blog post about participating in a community garden in a big city, perhaps Portland or Seattle? Anyhow, he thought I knew of a place in the Lansing area that was doing this. I didn’t and didn’t really know of any active groups doing community gardens.
Until now….. Urban Farming is not only using empty lots to grow food for the needy but they were founded right in the heart of the Motor City. This year, the group planted over 400 gardens in Detroit and various cities across the country.
Rock On!
