Bread with stuff between, even better. The Detroit Free Press has a couple articles on the best burgers and best sandwiches in Metro Detroit. Well, more like slideshows of the winning tastes.
Quoting from Slide 37 of the Burger Show:
The onion odor that clings to your clothes if you eat in is considered part of the charm.
That quote refers to Hunter House of Birmingham and its basically an “upscale” White Castle.

I miss Lily’s. I used to go there a lot for Sunday brunch. It wasn’t a buffet but they had a special menu with brunchy items like eggs benedict, pain perdue (French toast but 5x better), crepes and little mini bagels with lox. They also had a great chicken sandwich and this salad with Green Goddess dressing and Huntsman’s Cheese (layers of cheddar and bleu cheese) and sweet and spicy nuts. To top it all off, they have a bunch of aquariums around the restaurant with really awesome fish like this one:
Its a Dog Face Puffer Fish and its cool. (photo via Photobucket, user: Ironeagle2006)
‘Scuse me…is that a REAL fish?
Yes, it is.
